Who is the best newspaper horse racing tipster? – Horse Racing Game Board

By the very nature of all horse racing sources, the information is always incomplete. No matter which way you slice it, there is always the hope that someone will find a trick that makes it more entertaining for everyone. It’s only a question of whether it is more entertaining to watch the races or the readers in the newspapers.

You are probably aware that the winner of the American Equine Racing Association’s $100,000 Equus Cup race at St. Clair Shores on Saturday night, Jan. 11, 2012, was a mare named Milly.

While the winning finisher went by Milly by default, this was not really a trick or a coincidence; it was a part of a carefully planned race strategy the handlers of this mare had worked out in advance.

At one point in what would be an incredible race, on the course leading to the start of the finish, an experienced rider decided to drop a horse to get a rider up front on the final lap. It was an idea only half hatched; the rider dropped her horse and a few minutes later, the horse was back out on the track with the rider behind her by mistake.

Milly came as a surprise in a race that was expected to be a hard-fought battle.

Now the winner is on to Florida.

The University of Washington’s student newspaper launched a new initiative on Friday — the “Seattle for Everyone” campaign — with a simple message: “Be the change you want to see in the world.”

Seattle for Everyone joins a growing number of national and state organizations — including the Boy Scouts of America, MoveOn.org, and National Organization for Women — that promote the values and policies of a diverse Washington state.

The initiative was conceived at The University of Washington by student, student-led leaders.

“Being a student-run newspaper will bring our values to students and our community in a way that other organizations may not be able to reach,” said student-run Seattle for Everyone co-founder and editorial director Katie Lee. “Through our mission, our newspaper will stand up for those most likely to experience marginalization in our community, be it by race, gender, or national origin. It is our mission to represent everyone across the University of Washington.”
