Some of you may be tempted to sell your photos on Shutterstock. This is a popular platform for photographers who take a lot of photos with their DSLR cameras. If you’re new to Shutterstock, it’s worth researching the service before getting started, and understand that in order to be accepted as a vendor you’ll have to prove your knowledge of photography.
What options do I have when I want to add photos to my portfolio?
Now that you have purchased photos from Shutterstock, you should go to your Gallery page and create an account. Here’s how it works:
Go to your Gallery page and click “Your Gallery” under your account settings. Choose “Add your own photography”. The following window will present you with options (these are different than those for your photos): Upload a file Select File Upload a JPEG image or a PNG
Note: Although you can use the upload button to add a file, we recommend using a web browser for the easiest way to upload your image without taking advantage of the gallery functionality.
A large percentage of our members upload with a web browser. If you prefer to use Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator (these programs come with the Adobe Creative Suite, and most professional photographers prefer one), you can export the image with Photoshop or a program like Adobe InDesign.
To use Illustrator/Photoshop, select File > Export as (Mac: File > Export as; PC: File > Export as).
Your image will appear as a vector file, and your dimensions (width and height) will be displayed in order that you can upload it into your image gallery. Then the image is saved automatically to your computer as a JPEG photo.
When is that best time to post your images online?
As an early adopter, you may be thinking before posting your images online. For example, if you see someone is taking a photo of your camera and you want to comment on the photo, you might want to wait so you can see how it will be received. Also consider posting a message on Facebook/Google+, asking the photographer to check out your photos and letting his/her community know about what you’ve learned.
If you have a blog or website, try posting regularly on that platform.
Why am I unable to view my gallery?
