There’s a lot of ways to do it, from natural hair extensions to buns, to using straight extensions and buns for your eyebrows and face. Here’s our take on different ways to do it:
Get your natural hair to grow out
This can be the easiest way to get your full hair out of your bun-style hair. You can create a few layers of hair at the back of your hair with a comb, bobby pins and your fingers.
I like to do this using a hairbrush, as you can see in the photos. You can pick up a bobby pin and comb it on at the ends so there are not too many spots to work with.
If you want to do the braid on your side hair, take your hair up and put the ends away with some bobby pins so you don’t have to keep changing it all the time.
You are going to want to keep your hair longer than two inches in a side bun for the most complete look, as you don’t want the braid in the side of your head to show.
Gently lift some of the excess hair and pull it up and around, as shown.
Take your hair out and comb it in a few passes so the ends are covered. Your long hair will now look like you’ve been doing this all week. You can also add extensions or a braid here just make sure you have natural hair, as you don’t want it to look like your hair is plastered all over your face.
Wrap your bun around your head to cover the bun braid
Some hairstylists will wrap and twist your hair together to give you that classic look of a braid on a side bun. Just be careful, as you have to be careful not to completely cover your hair.
Don’t let the braid peek out or fall out as you are wrapping it around you head.

Use extensions or buns to look fuller
If you are looking to make your hair look fuller, there are several options to choose from. It’s up to you, but we will start with extensions .
You can have extensions in the back of your bun or underneath it. You might choose to use them to hide your bun, by creating a fringe of extensions to make it look like you just put your hair
