It is important to practice, especially if you want to throw better and faster. You can start by practicing throwing two handed throws, or learn to throw a little farther than typical as you get more comfortable with the basic throwing motion. Throw faster while throwing to a shorter distance – the more distance you throw, the faster you will throw. If you are shooting a target with your arms out to 15 feet away and you use your arms to throw, the angle of the throw will be larger than that of a shorter distance thrown with your arms at a slightly lesser angle.

You can also throw an object in the air and have the distance it travels be approximately that of a throw thrown from the shoulder. If you throw the same distance but with your arms out to 15 feet, you may want to do a throw with your arms out to the same distance as the throw you just threw. The catch distance is still a challenge and varies depending on where you are aiming to (so you want to focus on what you are aiming at as well as making the necessary adjustments). There is also a technique which will increase the throw distance if you practice it with the sling on, but the technique will vary depending on the sling used.

When you throw at your target, try to make a throwing motion that will allow your mind to relax. You will likely have a mental “ticking” as your arm moves, it may feel like your arm can reach farther than your shoulder. This is why throwing a small stone at the target may not always result in a good throw. The same thing applies to the throw from behind, a throw from behind which can be extremely difficult for the user, and when a throw is in the air the opponent may have a better chance of intercepting them. If you can find a way to relax your hand movement, it will help you get better results with your throws as well as more speed.
