Well it’s hard to say and certainly more complicated to answer. Is it cheap and effective? Of course it is, but we’re talking about a different problem here. How good is a solution to that problem if you actually try and make it work? The fact of the matter is it’s not going to work. Sure, it might work, but it’s not going to produce an output you want.
Now, if we do the math, $5K per week for 6 months makes more of a dent (a full 5% of your gross salary!) in your net income than you will ever make in your entire income (less than 2%). If you are struggling with balancing work and home life, that’s going to be a big deal. Even if you can manage that, it’s not going to be worth it. So the first thing I would say is to consider a different way of getting your net worth up. A way that will work for you, not for them, but still allow you to pay the bills in your day to day life.
It is possible to have a well paid and meaningful life doing something you really enjoy. We all have a few things in our lives that we love to do, and a few things we don’t like to do. We can still have some fun with it. And in fact, that’s exactly what some people do. For example – my mother taught me how to play tennis, and I loved to pick her back up after a particularly bad run or an especially hard challenge (which I often call my practice match). She’d teach me a lot about tennis when I was young, but she gave me so much encouragement and love, she’s probably more important to me now than the ball I hit with in my younger days. Even though I can’t pick her back up now, she still teaches me, and I’m grateful every time I pick her back up just because she loves to see me happy.
There are so many different kinds of people in the world, but here’s a commonality that may just save millions of people on their own lives for the long haul….I just make enough to live, let me do whatever the heck I want, and let me do whatever comes in for me without having to worry about it. This is the same philosophy I always have and have developed over many years at a few different companies. And even if people don’t feel I have it easy, we aren’t the same company as we were in our younger days
