Well, if you can find the raw material, of course! It’s available, but it’s also fairly expensive and hard to come by.
The basic ingredients are:
1/2 cup dried coriander (I would add some crushed coriander leaves, but for some reason I don’t think I can find any, so I use fresh ones. They are very bitter, but when they are freshly ground they give a rich and slightly spicy flavor. If you live in a big city you can find the dried coriander at most spice vendors, but for those of us that live in a country where the spice vendors are scattered, you can find it at your local grocers.
1/2 cup oil (I use olive or canola oil)
1 cup coarsely ground cumin
2 tsp turmeric
1/4 tsp cayenne
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and place your dried herb in a large bowl.
Measure 4 cup of the cumin powder and add to your dried herb. Mix in the turmeric, cayenne, and salt and then make a good mixing and pouring motion over the dried herb. Place the mixture into a large roasting pan and roast the herbs in the oven for about 30 minutes.
A man on trial in New Mexico pleaded not guilty Wednesday to killing a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent and wounding a U.S. Border Patrol officer after a scuffle that happened during a traffic stop over unpaid fees.
According to his lawyer, the man — identified as John Russell Humbert by U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara’s office – is a U.S. citizen and has lived in the country since at least 2006.
The 27-year-old, whose name is still being withheld because he’s expected to plead not guilty, is accused in the Nov. 10, 2014, shooting of Agent Brian Terry as he exited his stolen car on his way back from a border patrol checkpoint.
Terry, 42, had been working for the Texas Department of Public Safety as a patrolman when he was shot in the head during a car chase through Mexico.
Prosecutors said on Wednesday that Humbert is a known felon with an arrest record that includes drug and robbery convictions and two arrests for domestic violence.
In a court hearing Wednesday afternoon, both the prosecution and Humbert’s attorney said the man was aware of a recent immigration arrest and was detained and later released.
