What you need to grow saffron
Wash your plants, but make sure you check for root issues. You can also use a small, thin glass jar if you have them. This jar works great for saffron as it will allow the saffron to flow out easily without leaving a sticky residue!

So now you know how to grow saffron. But since you’re probably interested in growing your own, you should know a few things…
What you’ll need (other than the jars)
The plants you’re going to grow should be able to root successfully.
So make sure you check the soil temperature, water and fertilizer levels to make sure that your plant isn’t getting too much or too little of each of them. If you’re growing a variety you want to grow from seed, that’s the time to plant them.
And because you’re using the jars for saffron, you need to be sure you’ve got the right kind of soil for the plants you’re going into. Some growers use compost or other earth-type soil, which isn’t the best soil for saffron plants, so make sure you check the ingredients you use to make sure they’re compatible.
In all honesty, it’s pretty easy to grow in an easy to spread soil for that matter. Just look at some pictures of what you want to grow, and go ahead and add it to your garden. Then, once it’s good and looking good, add the plant to a pot, and let it grow for a couple of months, depending on the weather. Here’s another tutorial on how to grow saffron using natural soil.
