So, if you want to make some saffron, you’re going to have to find the exact amount you’ll need. According to one vendor, it’s about 300 grams, so I have about 600 grams here on the counter, divided by 10 to get 2 tsp sifted into each jar.
It’s a bit tedious – you have to make all the sifting in a food processor at the beginning… but once made, it can be stored in the fridge.
After this, I use my sifter and simply grind the remaining leaves in a small food processor, then add a bit of water to bring it up to the level of my sifter (I like to make sifters the last time I use them).
The consistency of the food processor sifting is fine – not too stiff, not too loose.

The easiest recipe to follow is just 3/4 cup of saffron. If you can’t get it, that’s okay – the recipes on this site are only written to be very quick and easy. I found that I needed 1-2 tbsp (about the size of a pea) after the food processor sifting, after the whole thing was cooked. The other two tablespoons, I leave to rest for 30 minutes between sifting.
