Who invented tattoos? – Tattoo Designs On Paper Of Stars

  • by

Tattooing took off in the early 20th century, but some of the earliest documented tattoos were in Native American religions and cultures. One of the earliest is the Cherokee Eagle’s Tail, which is believed to have been introduced to the United States as a tribute to one of God’s original children.

The oldest known tattoo date to the 12th century. While the oldest tattoo is said to be in India, the oldest known tattoo in the UK is the Bishnuk in Wales, which is believed to have been first performed in 1130.

More than 50 million people do tattoos every year, with thousands in Spain, India and Spain.

A study into the tattooed history of Europe is currently being conducted by archaeologists.

As promised, here’s our top 25 list of the best films of the year, ranking from the best film of 2008 (No. 1) all the way down to the most surprising film of 2011 (No. 17). So it seems like that’s been one heck of a year. Here’s to hoping things stay this good.

25. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

Director: Martin Scorsese

Screenwriter: David Mackenzie

Stars: Daniel Brühl, Ethan Coen, Jack O’Connell, Steve Buscemi

I admit that my first impression of this movie was quite a bit negative. The title alone is a testament to the film’s inherent horror-film clichés and the inherent difficulty in making a film about a family in the midst of an American war. The film seems to be doing exactly what Scorsese wanted to do with his first feature: make the audience as uncomfortable as possible by focusing on the horrors of war without giving anything away as to who the protagonists of the film are – especially if you’re expecting any kind of a revelation. However, Scorsese somehow finds a way to get over the fact that he’s basically making a comedy of the Holocaust and makes Jesse James the true hero of this movie, and the only one who survives to find out just how much of an effect he has on all those around him. When you get down to it it seems like such a horrible movie – which is a pretty big compliment, considering that this is arguably the worst film Scorsese’s ever made. As for what he’s trying to accomplish through the character, Scorsese certainly isn’t afraid to explore things – he’s very much a man who wants to see humanity thrive
