The plant is very common in the region for this reason and because of its distinctive appearance it is quite common to have a Malu in one’s front yard or at a roadside flower stand. The flowers do not require much care as most people do not notice them.

In India and Kenya the Malu is known by the name of Bhavana, the Godwari, the Malu, the Yaje, or the God’send. The Malu flower is most often found in gardens in the east of the country along the borders of India and Kenya.
