Washington, D.C. – The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and National Immigration Law Center (NILC) today issued a report that documents an alarming number of ICE arrests of peaceful non-violent immigration advocates. Most of the nonviolent immigration defenders arrested are not facing any criminal charges. The report finds that ICE arrests are occurring all over the country, with one arrest or deportation occurring for every five non-violent immigration advocates. The report also finds that the number of non-violent immigration advocates arrested has been increasing in recent years, even if the total number of individuals arrested remains fairly stable.
