And so if a hitter has an infielder running to the plate with a low, hard pitch and an infielder is already running, it just gives the hitter an opportunity to work the count and get on base because the pitcher is probably going to give you that same pitch.
On the flip side, the infielders sometimes have to make a choice. Either they’re going to move to first base or they can move over and pitch to the first batter they see that can work with a slow, high fastball. It becomes a decision-making situation. But in my book, if you think that the ball is going to be hit at any time, you should get the best pitch.
