Rough Cut is an American story.
Not a sequel, but an American standalone that weaves together the entire storyline of the original film.
What’s your favorite scene?
I personally love the scene with the pilot. I love that scene because it sets the tone at the beginning of the film: the pilot is the man you want to be and the woman you want to be. She shows him that his choice is not just him, but that he’s the man for her, and that she has choices too. She has a choice not to tell him what’s on her mind, and that she trusts him without question. She’s making her first relationship with a man, and he’s the one they want to be with. That’s a pretty huge moment for a young, ambitious, handsome, charismatic and incredibly attractive young man.
What’s your favorite song from the movie?
Tie between “All the Young Dudes” by Justin Timberlake and “No Woman” by Justin Timberlake. In my opinion it’s more than sufficient and I absolutely love them both.
Who starred in the film?
It was a stellar cast. I think there’s no doubt that the only person who could have made this film happen would have been Jesse Eisenberg as a troubled man, and not Jesse Eisenberg as an attractive, and somewhat unstable woman. I would love to see a version of it where she’s an attractive and somewhat dangerous woman in an entirely different story. There’re plenty of stories like that in American film, but I feel like the American version of the story makes its own kind of movie. For example, the classic movie version of The Graduate where John Cassavetes can only sing one line.
