The Justice Department on Monday asked the FBI to reexamine several emails related to Hillary Clinton that were not turned over during her July 2 interview, NBC News is reporting
The FBI said in a brief letter that federal prosecutors “request more time to review material that the FBI believes has potential relevance to the investigation.”

The Justice Department said in an internal letter that its “review will include looking to determine whether additional information about these emails should be provided. There will be no further changes to existing investigative records.”
In a separate letter earlier Monday, the State Department’s assistant secretary of state for legislative affairs also asked to review the emails. The state department also said the “State Department stands ready to provide additional records” to the FBI after the agency asked for them in writing.
The FBI declined to comment, nor did a Justice Department spokeswoman, although the FBI director told reporters on Monday he was willing to look into Clinton’s use of a private email server despite having not seen the new documents.
Clinton has said that the FBI’s request was “ridiculous.”
